Blazing bikesHere at Blazing Trails we run a fleet of thirty 350cc Enfield Bullets. Although now made in India, these bikes are of the same basic design as the Enfields manufactured in Britain back in the 1950s and although small improvements have been made over the decades, they retain classic British bike character and charm. Producing around 18bhp, these bikes are no rocketships. Power delivery is 'friendly' with peak torque being made at low revs. This makes the Enfield Bullet ideal for relaxed touring in 'cruise mode'. Bullets are also very tough (a necessary trait on the back roads we like to travel), comfortable and, with a low centre of gravity, are very easy to handle. Our bikes are meticulously maintained by full-time in-house mechanics, being serviced, stripped back to the frame and repainted at the end of each season. Upon reassembly our chaps take the opportunity to inspect the integrity of each nut, bolt and spoke. While our 350s are used for tours in South India and Rajasthan, for Himalayan tours we supply the 500cc, 20bhp version of the bike, fitted with a disc brake conversion and large fuel tank. These bikes are maintained to the same high standards by our Delhi agent, but our own mechanics join us on tour to take care of day-to-day maintenance.
